Quirky ideas to kick off your fundraising in 2017

Posted By adminbritweb

It’s 2017 and it’s time to put the ‘fun’ back in fundraising. There are no limits to the kind of fun, out of the box things you can do when creating a fundraising event to really capture the imagination of supporters. It’s when you can really let your imagination run wild and truly show your passion and drive, all while promoting a good cause.

To mark the new year and to give you some inspiration for the months ahead, here are a few ideas to get you started, some of which you might not have heard of before.

Wellie-Jelly Wearing

How about wearing wellies full of jelly for an entire day? Could get messy but it would most definitely get people talking. It’s also cost effective to arrange and would be a good campaign to highlight on any social media accounts.

Waxing for men day

This idea is a classic for office fundraising and something everyone can get behind. Find as many brave men as possible to participate in having a body part, usually legs or arms, waxed. This one is popular but nonetheless it’s always a good one for  both women and men to watch and certainly gets people donating.

Wall Stuck

Charge a small fee for lengths of duct tape that participants can use to stick someone to a wall for example the school headteacher (we take no responsibility for headteachers that may be stuck to walls). With more physical ideas like this, it’s best to keep it light-hearted and find the right people to get involved who will enjoy the extra attention!

Car Smash

Yes, it is literally just how it sounds. Here you get the best of two worlds: charitable giving and beating the heck out of an automobile. We often have nowhere to vent our aggression so there is no doubt many people would donate for the chance to smash up a car. How you smash the car is completely up to you, but it’s advised to use a car already destined for the scrap heap.

Balloon Bust

Blow up a large amount of balloons and add slips of paper inside that have different donated prizes written on them (and of course have some with “thank you, please play again”). Place them in a room or very large box, where each participant will pay a certain amount to choose a balloon. The participant then gets to burst the balloon and find out what prize they may or may not have won. Fun, noisy and memorable!

Creativity is essential

These are just a few ideas that could supercharge your fundraiser and help you to increase donations for your charity! There are endless possibilities when it comes to raising money, so don’t be afraid to try new things.
